A few spare thoughts 11-11-09
Sad…
Luis Arreola, La Raza Justice Movement Volunteer, suffered a stroke about a week ago. He is back at a relative’s house. He is walking and cognizant, so things look good for now. For those of you who went with us to Hutto, he was the elderly man who came with our group. He also tabled at the Dia De Raza Festival. He is in the picture that we used for the August 29th rally, and he is pictured on the Hutto picture on my blog. I will be sending him a get well soon card. Please send any get well wishes that you would like to include, especially in Spanish through the contact page. The last time I saw him before the stroke, his words were “no te aguites, estamos progresando.”
I plan to send it by Friday. Thanks in advance for those who can e-mail something.
Happy…
It seems that our campaign to have Lou Dobbs removed from CNN has taken its toll, according to The Times.
He might be moving to Fox with the scum.
Laughing…
Because on his farewell video, he says he is “considering a number of options and erections.” Check it out on 1:21 of the video.
Dislike…
The fact that 25% of Texans are uninsured. I can only imagine the statistics for minorities in Texas. Want to choke the pay-for-performance Republicans who don’t grade themselves. From where I stand, the rates of uninsured minorities in Texas counts as an ‘F.’ Let’s implement some no politician left behind here in Texas. No pass, no play. No passing grade on insurance, no re-election. No compromise.

How the House shoved the Healthcare reform bill down the Repubs throats. They swallowed it. he he. Anyway, no nitty gritty tactical analysis, but the fact that they passed the bill with only one vote to spare makes me inclined to think that they pushed it as far as it would go without breaking. That’s all I hope for from politicians: invest leadership in pushing things as far to the left as you can. I don’t expect perfection from politicians nor from their bills, but if you want me to go to the polls, at least prove to me that you’ll push the envelope as far as you can. Our Restoration (O/R) won’t come to us through Congress, but at let’s at least get as much as we can in the meantime, including healthcare and some “papers.”
Perplexed…
Does racism still exist if Hootie won a Country Music Award? (see sarcasm in previous post)
