Blog Aspirations

Compas,

I have not been posting as consistently as I had been before. There was a mix of several reasons. One of them was that I had been putting all of my creative efforts into finishing a short book about my political thoughts. I actually finished the bulk of it about a year ago, but I have been waiting on a few things to line themselves up before I even attempt to either publish it myself or submit it for publishing. I have also been editing it piece by piece and working with Ramsey Muniz on it, who has been gracious enough to share his criticism/critique.

The other reason is that work has been very demanding. I have been a mortgage broker and real estate agent for several years, and it has been difficult dealing with this mortgage meltdown. I have been adapting by adding other lines of business, including insurance and tax preparation. These efforts have occupied a great deal of my mind for the past several months. I am itching to get moving on something truly productive, though.

Anyway, after a lot of contemplation on what I can contribute to our Raza, I have decided that for the next several months, I would like to focus on creating a full-scale blog, with its own web site y todo. I have a passion for writing, political philosophy and ideology and I would like to share this with nuestra gente.

The second portion of my ideas is that autonomy by iteself will do us no good, if our direction is not oriented properly. So I believe in principles. I believe in the principles listed at the end of this post, which I call the Ixachilankah Program. As I point out elsewhere, North Korea and the United States might both build schools and tanks, but they are headed in different directions. They are DOING the same things, but their RESULTS will be different. The Ixachilankah Program is simply an attempt to help us find OUR direction. These ideas are neither static nor new. Idea innovators like Mexica Movement and the Mexika Eagle Society, Union del Barrio, Corky Gonzales, El Plan De Santa Barbara, Malcolm X (and the NOI) have all influenced me, and I thank them for it.

Offset from the main part of the blog I hope to add a section on the History of Ixachilankah (Latinos) in Houston, an area which has been basically ignored.

Before going full-scale, I would like to use this myspace page to test myself, and make sure that I can pull it off. I know a blog is basically a daily commitment, and before I commit, I want to make sure that I can pull it off. So, for the next month, my goal is to post at least five times a week, and to build readership.

So if you like what you read, please visit the blog http://www.myspace.com/hectorchavanajr, pass the word on, comment, and/or please make yourself a subscriber to this blog. I have not come up with a name for the blog, but the basic premise of my ideas are that we, as a people, are entitled to autonomous decision-making. I believe in this as a human right-the right of self determination. As long as our people are subject to the decisions of others, then we are not free. I believe in freedom over reform, and if the United States is unwilling or unable to grant us the right to make the vital decisions over our own community (like war and tax spending), then we must consider all options-up to and including sovereignty (the establishment of our own country).

The Ixachilankah Program

1. We believe that we are the original, and rightful, caretakers of this part of the world. Therefore we are not immigrants. We believe that the so-called Latino is a descendant of some of the worlds most advanced and beautiful (indigenous) cultures of the world, and that we will reclaim this beauty and achievement through Our Restoration (O/R)

2. We believe that the United States has acquired its wealth and power through theft and exploitation-theft of land (from our ancestors), theft of labor (from Africans) and exploitation of resources. We believe that theft and exploitation never becomes legitimate, as long as the victims continue to demand justice.

3. We believe in equality, especially equality of authority. Around the world, the people’s right to govern themselves is recognized. In the United States, however, our people are governed by another race of people who have different interests and goals. We believe in equality among races, and we believe that the United States and those who govern it should recognize our equality through equality of authority. We believe in equality, therefore we declare the institution of white supremacy to be our enemy.

4. We believe that short-term reform measures and support for mainstream politicians many times sends an incorrect message to our gente and implies that the system can and should be changed. Therefore we will accept nothing less than measures which bring more autonomy or which promote our survival (physical, mental, cultural, spiritual etc).

5. We believe that we are owed reparations for the theft of our land as indigenous peoples and for the political, economic and military interventions which brought many of us from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala etc. to the United States. We believe that this reparation should come in the form of land, which we should govern for ourselves. We do not want worthless money from the United States, which can be manipulated and devalued easily.

6. We believe that as long as the borders are open to rich, predatory corporations, the borders should be open to our people as well. We believe that there should be an end to deportations of so-called Latinos as long as the borders are open to corporations.

7. We want a government controlled by us (Our New Anahuac) which will promote and contribute to the development of the full potential of our people and Our Restoration (O/R). We believe that the current system (media, government, military, education and economic system) is designed to keep the masses of our people at the bottom.

8. We believe it is best to promote a long-term plan for for self determination while working to better the community.

9. We believe that men and women are more than equals. We believe that they are part of the same whole.

10. We believe that the indigenous culture of our ancestors is the true culture of the so-called Latino. We believe that we should practice and learn it to the best of our abilities.

11. We believe that while moving toward Our Restoration (O/R) any measure which promotes more independence from the government and mega corporations is positive. For example we believe in INDEPENDENT businesses, schools, food and clothing programs above such programs funded by corporations.
