Foundations For A Brown Nation

This is a tentative, unedited introduction to the pamphlet/book that I hope to complete this year.

Knowledge is required before anything of value is built.  Before you build a strong house, you must have knowledge of architecture.  Knowledge alone is not sufficient to build a home, but it is the first requirement that you must possess in order to do so.  It is also one of the only requirements that can never be taken away from you once you possess it.  Your saws, lumber, nails trucks and even blueprints can all be taken from you, but the knowledge of how to build a house can never be stolen once you have it.

Knowledge is also the first requirement for anyone trying to free himself/herself from the shackles of a mental addiction.  If you are addicted to alcohol, you must first have knowledge that you are addicted before you can change.  If you are being abused by your husband, you must recognize it as abuse, and therefore have knowledge that you are being abused, before you can leave him.  Again, knowledge is not the only requirements to kick these addictions, but it is the first requirement.

Therefore if your goal is to build a strong nation of brown people, and to break the shackles of psychological colonization (an imposed addiction), knowledge is the first requirement that you must possess.

Companeros: our people are living in a true dark age, a psychological dark age.  The light which allows us to see our true history, the truth of our current situation and our true hope for the future has been denied us, and we have taken part in denying it to ourselves.

I say that we are in a dark age as well because we are in a conditional dark age;  we are in a productive dark age; and we are in a spiritual dark age.  We descend from a people that created a calendar more accurate that the on that we use today.  We descend from a people who were so in tune with nature that they made the light from the equinoxes their play things.  We descended from peoples who invented democracy and who created a city so high, that it took the occupation 400 years to find it.  So dark is our age that we do not even recognize these people as our ancestors.  We take this information as a historical footnote.

It is no coincidence that today we are the servants of another people.  We do their menial tasks, even our so-called professionals are servants to their banks, their justice system and their government.

Again, I say that knowledge is the first requirement in raising our nation.  So what knowledge must we have in order to build our nation?

The first step in building a new nation is to understand our true and complete history.  In history, we find our identity, our traditions and a model upon which to base our reconstruction.  Our true history is not taught us by our public education system, and it never will be.  We must take it upon ourselves to look beyond the colonizers’ version of our pre-Cuauhtémoc history, and so far we have been derelict in this duty.  Instead we believe what they want us to believe about our past.  It is no coincidence that all documentaries and texts about our ancestors mention their version of our sacrifice.  Yet, ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />Rome sacrificed people and animal for pleasure, and it is with reluctance that they teach this.  We must look deeper than the historical myths that they teach us.

The second pillar of our foundation must rest upon knowledge of the Spanish colonization.    We have stopped analyzing our past , convincing ourselves that the past is irrelevant to our present, even as we revel in his holidays rooted in his history.  They want us to look only at the history which is sanctioned by them.  We must know our true and glorious history, and we must know the psychological mechanisms we were infected with by colonization.  It is an obvious fact that the majority of our people speak Spanish and practice some form of Catholicism.  It is foolish and naïve to think that these are the only effects of colonization affecting our current conditions.

Third, we must have knowledge of our current conditions and the second colonization.  Just as the abused wife will never leave her husband without the realization that she is being abused, we will never agree to build up our own people for ourselves until we recognize that the entire system has been designed to keep us weak and out of the system.  We are currently in denial, and we believe that if we change this law or oust that racist, we will be saved.  The truth is that we will never have the same opportunities in this system as white people do, and we must understand the social mechanisms that make this so.  Moreover, I ask you:  is this society, with its lack of ethics and soul, something that we aspire to?  Should we continue to fight for the white ideal…us, a nation of pyramid builders and astronomers?  Is this all that you will ask for, a job and an education in their system with better pay?

Finally, we need knowledge of hope for the future.  Just as a homebuilder may have knowledge of building, she also knows what material she will need as well.  Knowledge of hope for the future is just this: knowledge of the materials we will need in order to effect self determination.  One reason that we are not ready for self determination is simply because we have not prepared the masses to ask for such.  The people’s common sense tells them that we do not collectively possess, the wisdom, the economic plan, the ethical texts, the educational institutions, the true culture, the infrastructure nor the vision to bring all of these and other requirements together.  These are not idle concepts; they are as real to building a nation as lumber is to building a house.  If there existed a model which brought all of these elements together that the people could have confidence in, then they will dare to be captivated by the idea of self determination.  Though we might not have these arenas organized collectively among us today, we must have knowledge of hope for these things for tomorrow.
