Untitled Poem To My Wife
Birds and the flowers are the height of beauty on earth
But jade is the symbol of noble beauty by birth
And so your skirt of jade makes me cower
While in your pockets live the birds and the flowers
Because all claims to beauty belongs to you
And I love to know that our love is so true
Your gaze as intent as an incoming storm
Your enchanting spirit met you when you were borne
to me forever and a life
Together we form the greatest of might
One night the hummingbird whispered to me
That in the next life together we’d be
And our children would be there forever to see
And that answers the question of “where are the bees”
They’re making a teokalli for you and for me
